Today my enviro teacher told us that she would be checking our binders this Friday to make sure they are all in order before the AP test. She said that all the material needed to be organized by topic. The whole year I kept my stuff in order, but I had organized it by type (tests and quizzes, labs, notes, etc.). So, this afternoon I took it all out of my binder, spread it out across my bed and floor and sifted through it, divided it, and put it back into the binder. I don’t think I can explain how much stuff I accumulated this year. It felt so good to get it done. I love feeling things are in place and tidy…that’s why I clean my room so much.
My friend Sarah and her parents picked me up around 6:50pm and we went over to the high school for a paper reading. All the proceeds from donations went to an orphanage program in Ethiopia. The papers/poems that the students read were amazing. If I had to I pick a favorite I would pick this girl Sophie’s. She wrote a poem that told the story of a girl and boy’s friendship. The poem started when they were really young, and then developed into chronicling how their relationship decayed. Basically she wanted to grow up and explore life faster than he did. Her descriptions of the two people were so rich and intricate. I really loved it. Her style actually reminded me of Nicole Krauss’s in her book The History of Love. I read it last year, and again this year. I am absolutely in love with it. If you haven’t read it, go read it, if you have, read it again because it is just that amazing! About a month ago I actually found out that it is being made into a movie that will be released in 2010. I’m not sure how I feel about that because I love it so much. Of course I am going to see it, how could I not? But I’m scared that it will be totally different and I will be upset. I was reading something about it online tonight and saw this quote: “It’s a book that requires real tenderness without being overly sentimental, and that is something Alfonso (the directer) does very well.” So I have some faith. Haha.
Also, I got an e-mail today saying the new PostSecret book is coming out soon and is already on amazon for pre-odering. I don’t think I am going to get it, at least not yet. My reasoning for that is: 1) I want to save money and 2) that I sort of love reading them in bookstores and Urban Outfitters more than I liked having them at home.

How beautiful (by the way I can pretty much only spell that word because of Bruce Almighty) is this picture???

Also I was looking around the Free People website and I found this dress. I think it is so pretty!

I’m lying in the entryway of my house sunbathing. It is so warm and amazing and I am in heaven. I can hear my dog Pooky snoring on the stairs behind me and my cat Tiger (we call him “Tigger”, like from Winnie the Pooh, we but spell it wrong) is sleeping next to me. I also got strawberry ice cream after school today!

Today at lunch my friends Allie, Julia, and Lisa were trying to get me to go to prom with them. I’m not convinced yet, but I have to say that it made me feel really good that they wanted me to come so badly. This sounds really cheezy, but I felt loved  <3.

The newest addition to our garden 🙂

I didn’t make these (I found them on the postsecret website), but I thought they were funny!

Sarah and I went to Starbucks during free-D and both got passion lemonade ice teas and wrote in our journals. It was gorgeous weather out and it was nice to get out of the school for a while. On the walk there and back she told me about her new screen play. I swear she is going to be famous for these someday!

After school I went to my mom’s school with her to pick up a paper from her professor. It ended up taking a lot longer than we expected. I waited in the car for about two hours and talked to my sister on the phone and did homework. There was a Boca Grande right across the road from where I was sitting. Eventually I couldn’t resist it anymore, so I got a quesadilla. It was delicious.

I was taking notes tonight for my environmental science class about endangered species and this information about the blue whale amazed me:
– Fully grown they can be longer than three train boxcars
– They can weigh more than 25 elephants
– The adult’s heart is as big as a Volkswagen Beetle car
– Some of their arteries so big  that children could swim through them

One last thing. On Saturday night I went to see the movie Sunshine Cleaning. It was really interesting and sort of comical in a sad way. I can’t explain the plot (well I guess I just don’t feel like it), but it was basically about these two sisters who open a crime scene clean-up business . One of the sisters, Nora, was played by the actress Emily Blunt. I thought I recognized her from something so I looked her up tonight and she has been in a lot of movies like Dan in Real life and The Devil Wears Prada. I just really like her because she is gorgeous, but not in the conventional sense and she was perfectly cast for this movie. Go watch it!

P.S. I feel like I can never live up to Julia’s blog haha. I need a theme. Maybe it will be guacamole, since it’s my Hanson. (If anyone else other than my friends reads this they will be confused).

Here is a scene from Sunshine Cleaning:

Hello blog world! I am going to try to write in this once a day, but we’ll see how that goes because I already keep a journal and I don’t know if I am going to want to do both. I pretty much created this because I love my friend Julia’s blog and I wanted to try one out. I also sort of wanted to test myself to see if I can keep this up. I’m not sure if I’m going to use it as a type of journal or mostly for posting links, videos, etc. I guess you will just have to wait and see.

Right now I am listening to You Don’t Know Me by Ben Folds. He sings it with Regina Spektor and it is so catchy. I have to give credit to my friend Allie for telling me about it 🙂 I’m also sort of obsessed with the song Losing Lisa right now.

Today I worked until one and then did community service. I had a quick lunch and then lay in bed and worked on my senior paper until 7:30-ish. It was awful, but now I have 7 pages…out of the 10 I need. I don’t have anything too exciting to report at the moment (not that I ever really do).

(This isn’t the official music video, but I like this a lot better)
